It is nearing the end of my first year of my degree course and I still feel slightly apprehensive towards choosing a particular field I envisage myself working. I have never concentrated on one area; I have always floated between and dipped my toes into a few. I know what I enjoy and I know what I don’t. Therefore decided that was the best starting point. My main visual influence has been the landscape, and the place in which I live in. I live in a small North Cornish town, Bude, situated in the perfectly balanced spot, sandwiched between a beautiful coastline, and elegant countryside.Influences of the natural world have always filtered into my work in one way or another. I enjoy creating images which others will enjoy, but I also enjoy creating pieces of work which question the norm and the ‘conventional way’. Bude is full of very commercial photography, with images consisting of postcard perfect landscape shots; sunsets, slow exposures, camper vans and Cornish flags. I wanted to change the way we view our small little town. This series will consist of twelve digital images, which explore colour, texture, distortion and blur. The idea is a play on perspective and the way we which view the image. Making the audience aware of the other elements rather then this typical ‘postcard’ image.
This shot is from one of the initial shoots I did, which took place in a woodland area.
