It states clearly in the brief that the book cover’s should be visual representations of two passages of the story. My book is, PG Wodehouse’s ‘The Crime Wave at Blandings’. Its a short story which follows the life in the day of Lord Emsworth, an interesting character, who simply likes to be left to his study to read his books or enjoy his rose gardens. These are two of my favourite shots from my initial shoot, I wanted to capture this visual idea of Emsworth’s personal library to capture the intimacy described in the story, I wanted my cover to elude this sense of privacy, a simplistic image with a shallow depth of field, I feel has really allowed me to achieve this.

These are my two favourite and I feel my most successful shots, aesthetically and compositionally. I shot both images with the intention of a potential book cover in mind, having negative space in order for text to be placed.

I really like both these shots, and still have other from the shoot to edit and play around with.
